Afterthoughts

"I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world."
-Mary Anne Radmacher HersheyThe return this time was not nearly as traumatic as last time. From Koh Samui, I flew to Singapore, visiting with Matt and Sybil again. The job market there wasn't as lucrative as I was hoping, so I decided to delay my move to Asia another year.
17 April, 1998 San Francisco, CA USA Now? I'm in San Francisco, raising funds for the next Big Trip (TM). New friends, new place, new life. Surfing and rockclimbing on weekends, working in downtown San Francisco during the week. Sitting at my desk at home before a bay window right now, I can look out over San Francisco Bay and see the setting sun. The sky is a blaze of color. The Golden Gate Bridge is silhouetted against the hazy coast. The insanity of the past months fading away to distant dreams, photos, and emotions.
Right now, "normal" life is feeling pretty good, but I am sure the lust to travel will return all too soon. Plans? Right now, I'm not sure. Other than several short trips I'm planning to South America and Ireland, another trip around the world is taking shape. A 2-3 year trip (overland) around the world via the North and South poles. That way, I could travel around South America, see some of Russia, Central Asia, see more of Africa, plus being able to brag I've gone around the world twice! I'll be looking for sponsors and writing contracts this time around, so if anyone has leads for me, please let me know! But as always, plans are always in flux. Ask me again in about six to twelve months!
"We are a plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner! I can't think what anybody sees in them!"
-Bilbo to Gandalf on their first meeting
The End
Well, dear listener, this tale has come to an end. I hope you have enjoyed reading it. Even if you haven't, mind you, I have at least enjoyed telling it!L i v e.
